Muhammad and his family recently made the difficult decision to return to Gaza City after living in a displacement camp in Deir Al-Balah. The journey wasn’t easy. It took them nearly a week to walk over 20 km through the Netzarim corridor checkpoint, surrounded by thousands of other displaced Palestinians.
When they finally arrived, the sight was heartbreaking. Their home, like so many others, has been turned to rubble. Muhammad said:
“The house is not suitable for living in it, it is very devastating…We don’t know what to do, we are trying to solve it.”
The Ongoing Challenges of Daily Life
The challenges continue to mount. Food is still available but remains expensive. Communicating with the outside world has become incredibly difficult due to damaged infrastructure and Muhammad’s broken phone. This is especially concerning since online communication is one of the main ways he can raise funds to support his family.
Muhammad also shared the reality for others who have returned:
“They are all suffering, all their homes are destroyed.”
Despite these challenges, Muhammad and his family are determined to rebuild their lives. Your support is vital in helping them through this journey. Please consider sharing their story or donating to provide much-needed relief. Donate now on Chuffed.org to support Muhammad and his family. As always, all proof of fund transfers are available on request.
