Broken Ceasefire Promises: Israel Blocks All Aid into Gaza

The January 19 ceasefire, brokered with promises of stability and rebuilding, quickly became another chapter of unfulfilled Israeli commitments. Initially designed as a phased agreement, it aimed to stop hostilities, deliver aid, return hostages — both those captured on October 7th and some of the almost 10,000 Palestinian hostages, many of which are women and children, being detained by Israel — and facilitate reconstruction. However, over 350 violations by Israeli forces have been reported, including military incursions, airstrikes, and the obstruction of aid. At the end of phase one, Israel is now trying to use the withholding of food as a bargaining chip, going against the terms of the ceasefire to which all parties previously agreed.

Rebuilding Gaza: Muhammad’s Family Struggles

Progress back in Gaza City is going slowly for Muhammad and his family. While their home was bombed, they’ve managed to cover part of the shell with hardened nylon shade material to protect them to some degree from Gaza’s winter weather. While far from a permanent solution, this improvement has brought at least a little comfort to the family as they navigate incredibly challenging circumstances.

Life in Gaza: A Palestinian Family’s Struggle for Survival

This is the reality of life in Gaza. Muhammad Al-Harazin, a 21-year-old carpenter, stands amidst the rubble of his homeland. After being displaced more than 10 times, he now lives in a nylon tent with his family of nine, struggling to survive in unimaginable conditions. This video shows the destruction left by the ongoing crisis, with broken buildings and unlivable surroundings. Despite losing everything—his home, livelihood, and safety—Muhammad dreams of rebuilding his life and giving his siblings a chance at a brighter future.

Muhammad’s Message at Year’s End

Peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings. I hope you are all well.
On the authority of Suhaib, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The best among you is he who feeds the poor.

As you know, our situation is critical. We are facing severe food insecurity. The markets are empty, and the price of a single bag of flour has surpassed $300. This is the reality of life in Gaza right now. A bag of flour like in my photo has become the dream of every Gazan.

Your donations are very necessary, and I count on your generosity so that we can get food.

May God reward you in this world for the good deeds that you do, and give you a greater reward in this world and the hereafter, Amen
.”

Winter Begins in Gaza

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far—you’ve already made a big difference for Muhammad’ and hi’s Palestinian family. Emily and I just transferred roughly half of the donations that have arrived so far (there’s a short delay while the platform processes it). This amount paid for some food…to give you an idea of the prices, flour is now $300, so literally every bit of cash helps.

We still really need your help to share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and anyone you think might want to help. The more people who see it, the better chance we have of reaching our goal.
